The word “Cardhu” derives from the Scots Gaelic Carn Dubh, meaning “Black Rock”. Cardhu is a Speyside distillery near Archiestown in Moray, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1824 by whisky smuggler named John Cumming and his wife Helen. Now run by owned and run by spirits powerhouse Diageo and the distillery’s Scotch whisky makes up an important part of the Johnnie Walker blended whiskies.
Quietly assured and extra-mature, this is a whisky that opens slowly with real finesse to reveal an exquisite structure appealing to the connoisseur: rich in body, yet still full of delicate Cardhu character.
