FROM THE LAND OF THE GREAT HIMALAYAS
Maturation regime: First matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon casks, then matured in sherry casks, and then matured once more in ex-bourbon casks for its ultimate influence. This process gives rise to the moniker “Intermediate Sherry,” with sherry casks acting as the intermediary.
Awards: 2014 Jim Murray Whisky Bible, 96.5 POINTS
ABV: 57.1%
Colour: Golden Yellow
Nose: This time, we smell moist cake rather than the typical biscuit scent. And wow, is it hot and fruity! I also adore the recently waxed oak floor. One of the most unusual sherry-style-bourbon-style marriages available, this one is multilayered and complex.
Taste: Excellent delivery that is wholly original in form. Although the structure is distinctly oak-based, it just serves as a framework over which the juicy sultana and spices are draped. salivating as well from the strong barley kick. However, the honeycomb, orange, and liquorice bourbon theme subtly influences the flavor profile, while the spices pulsate and sparkle.
Finish: Long and graceful, with a significant amount of natural caramel to balance out the more flamboyant elements.
